“In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity” – Albert Einstein

I love my role of mentoring mortgage brokers. It enables me to encourage them to be resilient and have the ability to continue to be adaptable and change with the times.

Which ever way you look at it, there’s no denying that COVID-19 has had a massive impact on the way mortgage brokers do business today. And this excites me as it allows me to explore creative ideas.

The most successful and effective mortgage brokers are the ones who do not react to the current conditions but proactively plan ahead to prepare for a range of outcomes going forward into the new normal.

Mortgage brokers play a critical role in helping customers understand the banks credit policies and structuring of their home loans. It is vital to remain connected to their customers and keep them informed so that the mortgage broker becomes the trusted voice.

And herein lies a massive opportunity!

The pandemic has resulted with the banks permitting customers to be identified digitally. This has opened up a huge opportunity for mortgage brokers to work with customers right across the country. And now with greater flexibility in terms of how people can work and interact with their customers, many of those geographical barriers have disappeared.

Digital communication is key as this will enable scalability of the business. Mortgage brokers who are not embracing digital technology are effectively falling behind by not embracing the advances in technology and jumping onboard.

There are many changes to our finance industry such as compliance, regulation, open banking, conflicted remuneration, the banks credit policy changes and of course the Best Interest Duty which is due to start in January 2021.

How do mortgage brokers cope and keep up to date with everything going into 2021 and beyond?

My key piece of advice is to make sure you stay connected to an experienced mortgage broker mentor who actually enjoys mentoring and has proven systems and processes together with global best practice business technology.

I love my life❣️
